Veiled Memories, 2022
Participatory Installation
Photographic Emulsion, Water, Glass Vials, Light Table, Stools
25” x 64” x 74”

Thinking through reconsolidation of memory and retrieval‑induced distortion, this project explores the tension between preservation and fragility as memories live as shifting entities. The delicate images suspended in the vials are continually subject to degradation and reinterpretation, shaped by variables such as mood, past experiences, the specific fragments revealed, and the surrounding environment. Visitors are invited to hold and manipulate these fragile vessels on a light table scaled to a child’s height. The images’ ephemeral lives mirror our own temporality: over the course of six months, the photographic emulsion will fade and disintegrate, transforming each vial into a tangible trace of a past memory.
